Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo 2019 Participant Check-In
The Toyota Wellspring Education Fund at CREATE Foundation is the lead sponsor of a major career expo set for October 1, 2 and 3, 2019 at BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo. The expo is designed to provide a better understanding of the opportunities available after graduation to over 7,000 eighth-grade students from 17 northeast Mississippi counties in the CREATE Foundation service area. The career expo will be open to the public on Wednesday, October 2nd, from 2:00 PM 5:00 PM.
Imagine the Possibilities featured activities connected to 18 career pathways. These pathways include Aerospace; Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources; Architecture & Construction; Arts, A/V Technology & Communications; Business Management & Administration; Education & Training; Energy; Engineering; Finance; Government & Public Administration; Health Science; Hospitality & Tourism; Human Services; Information Technology; Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security; Manufacturing; Marketing; and Transportation, Distribution & Logistics. The interactive expo is designed for 8th graders in 17 Northeast Mississippi counties covered by the CREATE Foundation.
Imagine the Possibilities formed community partnerships with local businesses, to address the community challenges of inspiring and motivating students to pursue career goals. Education and workforce development professionals must work together in order to ensure a promising future for all students. This issue is not unique to Northeast Mississippi, or even to our state. Students everywhere need to know what jobs are currently available, the necessary training and education required, and the potential pay scale. Career awareness should start at an early age and should involve the entire community.
