Reunited with a Stranger
Staged reading of new political play Reunited with a Stranger. Reunited with a Stranger is a play that deals with the aftermath of the current immigration crisis taken place at the southern border of the United States. Fifteen years after being separated at the border, Camila Fernandez (Rina Mejia) reunites with her daughter Lauren (Ona Vicente). Lauren, brings her adoptive mother Sarah Bennet (Elvira Tortora), her adoptive father (Ron Palais), and her boyfriend Richard Stills (Daniel English) to Mexico to meet her Camila. Through a series of flashbacks we uncover important event of these 15 years that Camila and Lauren have been apart, including Camilas time at the detention center and interaction with an ICE officer (Larry Tadlock) and Laurens struggles to find her biological mother. Family secrets come to surface and questions about mental health and cultural identity arise as everyone tries to adapt to a new family dynamic.
