Yamaha Artist Concert Series
Herb Alpert Music Center, Yamaha Corporation, and Keyboard Concepts present the inaugural season of the Yamaha Artist Concert Series. This series will feature some of the most exciting names in jazz, classical, and contemporary piano music today with intimate solo recitals in the beautiful Herb and Lani Alpert Recital Hall, played on a wonderful brand new Yamaha DCFX grand piano. All proceeds go to the Student Scholarship Fund.

Hosted cocktail hour: 6:30pm (included with the purchase of a ticket)
Concert: 7:30pm
Tickets: $25
Students: Free (with ID; one per person; based on availability)

Pianist David Kaplan has been called excellent and adventurous by The New York Times, and praised by the Boston Globe for grace and fire at the keyboard. He has appeared as soloist with the Britten Sinfonia at Londons Barbican Centre, at Miamis Arscht Center with Itzhak Perlman, and in recital at the Ravinia Festival, Sarasota Opera House, Washingtons National Gallery, Music on Main in Vancouver and Strathmore in Baltimore. This season, he makes his debut at the Berlin Philharmonie, performing Beethovens Concerto no. 3 with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.

Timo Andres is a composer and pianist who grew up in rural Connecticut and lives in Brooklyn, NY. A Nonesuch Records artist, he has received wide acclaim for an album of orchestral works, Home Stretch, and for his debut album, Shy and Mighty. As a pianist, Timo has appeared with the LA Phil, North Carolina Symphony, the Britten Sinfonia, the Albany Symphony, New World Symphony, and elsewhere; performed solo recitals for Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall, San Francisco Performances, the Phillips Collection, (le) Poisson Rouge; collaborated with Philip Glass, Jeffrey Kahane, Gabriel Kahane, Nadia Sirota, the Kronos Quartet, the Los Angeles Dance Project, John Adams, and others.
