Norton is a community where neighbors take care of each other, especially in times of need.
In May 2003, Kathy Bailey, a young mother of two children, lost her courageous battle with brain cancer. To help Kathys family with her medical expenses, concerned friends organized a charity basketball game. Recognizing that tragedies similar to the Baileys affect Norton families every year, the charity basketball game was continued annually in Kathys memory. Over the years, the funds raised have helped many local families through very difficult times.
Although ITAC began as a way to support a Norton family facing a terminal illness, its mission has evolved to include families struggling with the death of a family member as well as other situations that result in difficult financial circumstances. Families in need have received funding for essentials like rent, utilities and groceries, as well as holiday gifts, school meals, and sports.
As of February 2018, ITAC is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization, and 100% of proceeds go toward families in need. We are continuing to honor Kathy Baileys legacy with the annual basketball game, and plan to expand to include a new annual fall event as well.
Norton is a community where neighbors take care of each other, especially in times of need. Help us celebrate Norton spirit by supporting It Takes a Community.
