Spanish Summer Evening
Imagine yourself on a hot but breezy Summer night in Spain. You have a succulent plate of Paella in front of you, the fragrant clams and shrimp waifting up. There is a soft hum of Flamenco guitar and the swirl of a Flamenco dress. You are sipping a cold beer. The adventure begins.


Food provided by: Brian Parks, Owner of the Spanish Caravan Catering

Beginning his career in the mountains of Colorado cooking for resorts, Brian Parks spent 8 years in NYC cooking at the restaurants Blue Smoke(an upscale BBQ joint), Brooklyn's Oznot's Dish and Spanish-inspired Casa Mono. It was his years at Casa Mono he found a love for the flavors of Spain. After leaving Casa Mono he helmed the stoves as chef at Buceo 95, an Upper West Side tapas and wine bar. Upon moving to Seattle in 2009, Brian was hired as Chef dCuisine at Quinns Pub on Capitol Hill. In 2010 Brian opened Spanish Caravan Catering bringing paella and tapas to the Puget Sound area. In 2018 Spanish Caravan Catering has celebrated 8 years presenting the Tastes of Spain to the Puget Sound region.

Two Seating sessions - 5:30 and 7:45, lasting two hours each.
You must let us know if you want meat/seafood or vegetarian paella

Menu:

Tapas Buffet - Romesco and Leeks, Chorizo and Goat Cheese, Tortilla Espanol, Bacalao and Potato.
Mixed Green Salad
Seated Main Course:
Paella options - Vegetarian, and Meat and Seafood combo. Please make your choice by answering our preference question.
Dessert - Churros and Spanish Chocolate

Your hosts for the evening are Lisa and Eric Rough, the owners of Tin Dog Brewing, which is where this event will be located. Tin Dog Brewings' specialities are Saisons, Wits and Blended Sour beers. In April of 2018, two of their blended sours were featured at "The Herbfarm"and paired with a seafood meal. They won Gold, Silver and Bronze for those same sours at the Washington Beer Awards and Brewers Choice Award in June 2018. You will be offered a complementary 8 oz pour of our Flagship House Saison. Other beers are available for purchase, including our popular Blended Sours. Non-alcoholic beverages and cider are also available.

Flamenco Performances by Artists: Mirta Wymerzberg, Andres De La Serna, and  Michaelene "Mikita" De La Serna.

Biographies:

Mirta Wymerszberg (Voice, Flute)

Seattle based musician Mirta Wymerszberg is an accomplished flutist, bandoneon player and vocalist. Mirta, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina brings extensive experience in authentic tango music from Argentina, where she received her musical education at the Municipal Conservatory of Music and performed classical and tango music. 
She appears regularly in Seattle with her Tango band "Sol de Noche", as well as singing flamenco repertoire with "Cuadro Azahares", "La Peña Flamenca de Seattle", and as a guest artist in a diversity of Latin projects. She has performed with relevant Argentine Tango musicians like: Gustavo Beytelmann, Hernan Reinaudo, Claudio Mendez, Roberto Amerise and Juan Lorenzo. 
She has recorded several cds: FLOR de Tango, 2000; Figuracion de Gabino Betinotti, 2009 A dos Puntas, 2016; Ay Margarita, 2011 (children's music in Spanish); and Endiablada de Tangos (2016) that had been selected to be part of the Playback collection at the Seattle Public Library.

Andrés De La Serna (Guitar)

Andrés De La Serna is a flamenco and rock guitarist whose passion for the guitar started from an early age.  Andrés has cultivated his guitar playing since childhood (age 9) and many years later still dedicates himself to his guitar as way to bring artistic expression into his life and share it with others.
Andrés has played guitar in various bands and played as a solo act in various venues, festivals and competitions in La Paz, Bolivia, Chicago, and Seattle. He is well-versed in the electric guitar as well as the flamenco guitar and enjoys writing his own music.  Andrés is currently working on some new material and hopes to release his latest collection of songs in 2019.  Contact information: https://www.bandmix.com/drx-13/

Michaelene "Mikita" De La Serna (Dance)

Michaelene De La Serna is a dancer, teacher and choreographer. Her formation as a dancer took place from 1992-2002 under the direction of Mme.Elizabeth Boitsov, Artistic director of Boitsov Classical Ballet in Chicago. In December 2002, she graduated from ballet school with a diploma in Vaganova Technique. In 2003, Michaelene was accepted into the Boitsov Classical Ballet Company where she became a soloist, dancing the traditional classical repertoire from many ballets including "Swan Lake," "Don Quixote," "Raymonda," and "Sleeping Beauty, as well as original works created for her. Michaelene was also extensively trained by Mme.Boitsov to teach classical ballet in the Vaganova Method and began teaching ballet in 2005.
During the time she was performing and teaching at Boitsov Classical Ballet, Michaelene began to study flamenco dance intensively with Flamenco Chicago Artistic Director, Ms. Rosetta Magdalen. She began to perform for local school assemblies as well as events and performances with Flamenco Chicago. She also taught beginning to intermediate levels of flamenco to adults at Flamenco Chicago and was also the Director of the Flamenco Kids Program, teaching children age 5-12. She also worked as an Artist-in-Residency/Flamenco Teacher for Ensemble Español Center for Spanish Dance and Music's "Bailamos" Arts Education Residency Programs.
While Michaelene loves to perform, she also enjoys teaching and sharing her love of dance with others. Currently, she teaches beginning flamenco classes to children and adults at American Dance Institute in Seattle as well as Seattle Central College.
