Deep Ecology Winter Night Hike
Join us for a winter night hike with Deep Ecology Meditation at Mills River. This will be a celebration under the winter moon of the season of darkness, of cold, and centering.
Hiking at night gives us a wonderful (often new) experience of being in the woods. We rarely if ever enter the forest at night, but connecting with the natural world in this way can be powerful, beautiful, and rich. Night hiking requires us to move slowly and mindfully, and provides a new perspective on our surroundings and on our relationship with the natural world.
The program will incorporate contemplative practices of walking and sitting meditation, readings and poetry, silent reflection, stargazing, and some group sharing.
This will be a moderate hike, and will be between 2 and 3 miles long. We will carpool from the Earth Fare Westgate parking lot to the Turkey Pen Trailhead.
All levels of experience with meditation are welcome.
