Fire Relief Dinner Series at Boot and Shoe Service
The Camp Fire in Butte County has been declared the most devastating and deadliest wildfire in California history. The healing and recovery needs are massive based on the levels of trauma and tragedy inflicted.
153,336 acres are burned
Nearly 14,000 homes and 5,000 other structures were destroyed
85 individuals were lost to the fire and dozens others are still missing.
Heres one way for our community to pull our resources and talents together to help in the relief and rebuilding effort of our neighbors in Butte County as they reclaim their lives at home.
The Boot and Shoe Service in Oakland (under the new ownership of Jen Cremer and Richard Clark) will host a series of 6 intimate dinners by celebrated local chefs in their private back kitchen. Guests will dine on a large communal table as they engage in conversation with the chefs as they prepare and plate a multi-course dinner at the table served with carefully paired wines and beverages.
January 9th: Cal Peternell of Cooking By Ear, Chef Siew-Chinn Chin and chef Tu David Phu
January 23rd: Stuart Brioza of State Bird Provisions and The Progress and Jerry Jaksich and Rayneil De Guzman of Ramen Shop
February 13th: Julya Shin and Steve Joo of Nokni with Bedrock Wine Co.
February 27th: Kelly Mariani and Emma Lipp: an Evening with Scribe Winery
March 13th: Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu's and Dominica Rice of Cosecha
March 27th: Chris Lee: The Old Fashioned Butcher with son, Tom Lee and Suzanne Drexhage of Bartavelle
Wines for each dinner have been generously donated by Kermit Lynch, Ordinaire, Bedrock Wine, Oakland Yard and Beaune Imports.
100% of the proceeds will go to the Camp Fire Evacuation Relief Fund, which supports evacuation centers that opened their doors and pantries to people who lost their homes, and will transition the funds into long-term recovery efforts as soon as the immediate needs are met.
Other Funds and support channels can be found at https://www.nvcf.org/disaster-relief
Menus will become available by request one month before the dinner's date. Not all chefs can accommodate a range of dietary restrictions and allergies so we suggest inquiring about modifications before purchasing tickets.
