Bodega Bay Chowder Day January 26, 2019
Join us for a fun day in the Bodega Bay Area sampling chowder at the numerous restaurants. You get to vote for the Best Chowder on the Sonoma Coast. This is a driving event around the towns allowing you to enjoy our beautiful area. It is not a walking event. This is a Fundraiser for the various charities of Bodega Bay.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The Chowder Day Competition event is January 26th, 2019. There are 2 tasting groups/times: one at 10am and one at 12/noon.
You may taste in any order you like but please note that Competitor E, Bodega Bay Oyster Company, is located 11 miles South of town so if you are heading in through Petaluma, we recommend you stop there first. They are at 12830 Valley Ford Rd (turns into Highway 1) Petaluma, CA.
COMPETITION CATEGORIES NEEDING YOUR VOTE:
Ticket holders get to vote for Best Chowder as well as Best Theme (themed booths are optional but real fun!)
Participate in the Instagram challenge for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to Rivers End in Jenner (where the Russian River empties into the ocean). Post a picture/selfie (by 3pm, Sat) on Instagram with #BBChowderDay2019, and make sure your favorite theme is clearly shown in the background. You will automatically be entered into the raffle for this amazing prize. The winner will be notified by 5pm Saturday evening!
TICKETS
Please print your ticket at home and keep it with you throughout the event. You will need to show it to verify your eligibility to taste at each location. You will also need your ticket number to cast your vote when you are done.
VOTING
All votes will go through Survey Monkey this year and you have until 5pm Sunday, Jan 27th, giving you just over 24 hours to cast your vote. Each ticket holder will be emailed the survey link and it is also printed on the map. Each entered vote will be verified via the voters ticket number so keep your ticket until you are done voting.
If you are worried about having to vote online, come to the Sonoma Coast Visitors Center at 913 Highway 1. We will have computers logged in so you may enter your vote there quickly and easily or you may fill out a physical vote on location and our staff member will enter it into Survey Monkey for you.
SPOONS
To cut down on waste, this year we ask that you please bring your own spoon. There will be a limited supply available from the competitors, so if you require a spoon, keep it for each tasting. We are also selling Chowder Day commemorative spoons at the Visitor Center (913 Highway 1).
MAPS
Each taster will be emailed the map on Saturday, January 19th. Please print the map with the second sheet on the back for notes. If you dont have a way to print your map or forget yours, come by the Sonoma Coast Visitor Center at 913 Highway 1 and we will help you.
COMPETITION RESULTS
The results for all three categories will be announced at noon on January 29th on both Facebook Bodega Bay, CA and our Chamber Website www.visitbodegabayca.com. Both competitors as well as tasters are encouraged to check our Facebook and website for the results at that time!
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME ON CHOWDER DAY?
Printed ticket and map.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHICH RESTAURANTS ARE PARTICIPATING?
Look for a participant sign at each restaurant. Check the map too!
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS POOR?
Rain or Shine, the tasting goes on! No refunds as this is a fundraiser!
WHY ARE THERE TWO DIFFERENT START TIMES?
In order to accommodate over Chowder Day visitors, we are splitting our guests into two groups. We ask that you observe the start time on your ticket.
CAN WE WALK FROM RESTAURANT TO RESTAURANT?
That is not recommended. Not only would it take you a long time, it's just not that safe to walk on Hwy 1. Some stops will have multiple locations. It's best to drive around the area.
CAN I BRING MY PETS?
Sure! You will be making a tour of the Sonoma Coast and Bodega Bay in your car. So feel free to bring your pet. Most of the stops you'll make are outside. But keep in mind that some of the competitors set up at businesses that might not be pet friendly.
WILL THERE BE AN INFORMATION BOOTH LOCATION?
Yes, it will be at the Bodega Bay Visitor's Center, 913 Highway 1, Bodega Bay and will be clearly marked from the road. The Information Booth Staff will be able to answer any questions you may have.
WHAT IF I LOSE MY TICKET OR WERE UNABLE TO PRINT IT?
In this hopefully rare instance, come to the Information Booth at the Visitor Center and we will assist you.
WHERE DO I PARK?
Each business will have parking available. There is no central spot to park and walk to each restaurant.
