3rd Annual a CATpella Festival to Belt Out Cancer
Please join us on January 25, 2019 at an a cappella fundraiser to remember the brilliant light and spirit of Catherine Malatesta and to raise much needed funds for the Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation and the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
Catherine (Cat) Malatesta of Arlington was 16 years old when she died of epithelioid sarcoma, a mere 7.5 months from the date of diagnosis. Catherine was a bubbly and vibrant person who touched nearly everyone she met. She was active at Arlington High School where she sang in the Madrigal Singers group, acted in the high school musicals, played field hockey, rowed crew and was President of the Student Council. She was an avid honors student who loved school. Catherine's life was cut short just as she was beginning to flourish. We remember her kindness, her compassion, her zest for life. It is a colossal understatement to say we miss Catherine so much.
The first two a CATpella Festivals to Belt Out Cancer raised more than $75,000. They were fabulous evenings of warm song on a cold winter's evening. This year we have an equally amazing program. One of the headliners of the concert and returning is the nationally recognized and award winning all-male Tufts University Beelzebubs. Also returning is Catherine's beloved Arlington High School Madrigal Singers, the Winchester High School Octets and UMASS Amherst Vocal Suspects. New this year is Sound Off, a post-collegiate award-winning co-ed group, Boston College's The Common Tones and Boston College's Acoustics. Our new emcee is Lindsey Mills, an Arlington native and anchor/reporter at NEWS CENTER Maine in Portland. Unfortunately for us but wonderful for her, Alexandra Socha is currently starring on Broadway in Head Over Heels, The Musical.
We are supported by two generous Gold Sponsors, Prime Motor Group and The Sanborn Foundation and one fantastic Bronze Sponsor, W. L. French Excavating.
Let's try to raise $50,000 to BELT OUT CANCER!!!
