NY Chamber Collective - Kickoff Concert with Brahms, Shaw and Golijov
PERSPECTIVES:
Brahms: Quintet No. 2 in G, Op. 111 Caroline Shaw: Valencia Osvaldo Golijov: Tenebrae
What can you see from a distance? What changes when you zoom in incredibly close? Imagine the Earth from afar, a floating orb, full of magnificent color and teeming with life. One must look much closer to see the conflicts that shape modern humanity. Hear this juxtaposition of expansive beauty and palpable tension in Golijov's Tenebrae. Shaw's piece exams the intricate biology hidden behind the mundane in a common grocery item: a Valencia orange. NY Chamber Collective takes you on a journey where individual players and parts synergize to create a whole much greater than the sum of it's parts.
Excited to be launching this exciting new collective of fantastic musicians! Kickin' it off right with a transcendental program!
Performers: Andy Bhasin and Artie Dibble, violins Philip Carter, violin/viola Drew Vella, viola David West, cello
Members of the NYCC celebrate the variety this city both enables and provides. Our musicians can be found performing throughout the city; from Broadway to Chamber music residencies; from Carnegie Hall to NYC Public Schools. This collective brings a wide variety of experience to an intimate setting, allowing their audience and fans in close to the process of making music.
