Your Body, Your Burlesque
Burlesque is an art form that allows us to tell stories and express emotions with our bodies. On stage or off, most of us have complicated, nuanced relationships with our outsides. This 2 hour workshop will explore how our connection to our physical selves impacts our performance, and how our art reflects how we feel in our skin.
Well be using movement, games, and writing exercises to delve into ourselves, tune in to each other and set intentions for our art. Come dressed in comfy movement clothing (whatever that means to you) and bring a notepad and pen. Participation in all exercises is encouraged but not required. Please note that this class is geared towards folks who are already performers, but you need not be a seasoned burlesquer! If you use your body on a stage in some way, this workshop is for you.
**Lillian Bustle (New Jersey) is a burlesque performer, singer, MC, producer of JC Burlesque and public speaker/gleeful loudmouth about body love! Lillian believes that Burlesque is for all bodies, and her recent TEDx talk, Stripping Away Negative Body Image, sheds light on the positive effect of Burlesque and visual diet on self-image.
