Glitter Barista Championship

Compete in (randomly selected!!!) teams of 2, challenging your skills with teamwork,
espresso, crafting the tastiest of Pacific Foods Barista Series milk beverages, developing
a sassy signature drink, and showcasing exemplary hospitality... all in only 45 minutes!
The top three teams will move on to compete in a mystery face-off to determine which
team will be crowned the Glitter Barista Champions!

Admission for the public is $5 and all proceeds got to to support the Philadelphia SPCA. We are sponsored by Glitter Cat Barista Bootcamp after-all, so we need to support our local non-profit animals rescue folks! Cost to compete is $10.

So what is the Glitter Barista Championship? The Championship is based off of the United States Barista Championships; however, with a few twists and manipulation of the scoresheet [not everything has to be super serious...but we do have a fire stash of prizes for the winning team!]. In 45 minutes each team needs to present to a panel of two judges an espresso, a milk beverage prepared using Pacific Foods Barista Series milk alternatives, and a signature beverage using ingredients from the Additive Library [plot twist: some ingredients are worth negative points!].

The Glitter Barista Championship is put on in conjunction with Glitter Cat Barista Bootcamp. Check out www.glittercatbarista.com/bootcamp for more information on the bootcamp. The ten trainees will be leading 10 teams of 2 competitors. Folks registering to compete will be paired up [randomly] with one of these Glitter Cat Barista trainees. This team of two will have to work together, under the leadership of the Glitter Cat trainee to vie for the title of The Glitter Baristas 2018.

Run of competition
There are three Nuova Simonelli Victoria Arduino 2-group espresso machines and six mythos grinders. Each team will have access to one group head, one steam wand, and one grinder. Additional provided tools include one acaia pearl and one lunar scale, one Pullman tamper and chisel tool. Competitors cannot bring outside equipment.

Once at the espresso machine teams will have forty-five minutes to serve a panel of two judges an espresso, a Pacific Foods Barista Series milk beverage, and a signature beverage. Things to consider as you go through this process: flavors, tasting notes, beverage size, vessel, creativity, hospitality...is Axel Cat included in your presentation?

The top scoring three teams will have a mystery challenge to determine which due is the Glitter Barista Champions!

Timeline
6:00pm - Competitors arrive for calibration, instructions, and coffee selection
6:30pm - Doors open to the public
7:00pm - Welcome
7:15pm - Round 1!
8:30pm - Round 2!
9:45pm - Finals!!!!
10:00pm - Announcements of the winning team

***Glitter Cat Barista Bootcamp's vision and mission is to provide access, training, and a safe space for folks who come from/identify as members of vulnerable, marginalized, and underrepresented communities (i.e. women, POC, non-binary, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities or financial hardships etc). Everyone is welcome but this competition is for them. If you're a straight-cis-white-male help your colleagues out and try to make sure your other colleagues have an opportunity to compete/attend.
