Pianist Jacqueline Schwab in Concert: TICKETS ALSO AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR 6:00PM
Pianist Jacqueline Schwab, noted for her evocative playing on the sound tracks of documentary film maker Ken Burns Civil War (Grammy award), Baseball, Mark Twain, Frank Lloyd Wright, The War and others, will perform a solo piano concert, I Lift My LampVintage Songs and Dances of Immigrant  America: Ken Burns Pianist Jacqueline Schwab in Concert, at First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main St., Yarmouth, Maine, on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 7 p.m. I Lift My Lamp celebrates Americas immigrants, their vibrant spirit of community music-making, and their multicultural contributions to our heritage. Jacqueline will present music from Scotland, Ireland, Poland, France, Eastern Europe, the African-American community, Cuba, and Brazil, along with Tin Pan Alley tunes, American anthems and more. In concert, Jacqueline speaks about the power of music to transport us into our own past and also on to new horizons. This will be her first Yarmouth, ME concert appearance. The concert is sponsored by 317 Main Community Music Center, in Yarmouth, which is also sponsoring two other events with Jacqueline: a community English country dance on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 and a band workshop on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

In Ken Burns words: Jacqueline Schwab brings more feeling and intensity to music than anyone I know. Her playing is insistent, physical, heartfelt and ... unusually moving. Her musical sensibilities arose from her time immersed in the rich classical and folk music scenes of Pittsburghs melting pot and later in Bostons vibrant musical scene. Drawing on the jazz/classical improvisational spirit of Keith Jarrett and the touch of George Winston ....  (New England Folk Almanac), Jacqueline spins musical stories, building bridges to connect listeners to the different cultures and strands that have formed our American music. She has performed at the White House for President Clinton, and, with Scottish singer Jean Redpath, on public radios A Prairie Home Companion and on CBS Late Show with David Letterman. Jacqueline graduated from the New England Conservatory in Boston, majoring in piano improvisation in the Third Stream Department. She has long played for English country dancing with the Bare Necessities quartet, whose flowing, group improvisational style and nationwide performances have inspired new generations of dancers and musicians. She has released four solo recordings and has performed concerts of vintage American music in almost every state of the Union. She lives on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts.

I Lift My LampVintage Songs and Dances of Immigrant America, will be at First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main St., Yarmouth, Maine, on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 7 p.m. Tickets $15 general admission, $10 under 12.
