Friday's Workshop offerings are:

Cupping for the Massage Therapist (6 CEUs) presented by Courtney Peterson
This cupping class is broken into two sections.  The first half is theory, and the second is application.  We will be using manual vacuum cups, silicone, and glass facial cups.  The theory section of the class talks briefly about history of cupping, and the spends the majority of the time discussing western application theory.  The reason for spending so much of the class on theory is that western methodology differs so much from eastern. Every class is a little different based on the students who attend.  Cupping is such a versatile modality that it lends itself to a wide range of adjustments and variance.  During the application section we will learn basic cupping stokes and technique.

OR

Neuromuscular Therapy: The Hip (6 CEUs) presented by Stacey Kilps of NMT Midwest
The vital role of the hip as a source of pain and its role in healthy movement is often overlooked. Issues of the hip may present local pain but can also greatly effect areas both above and below. For instance, restrictions in the hip demand that the low back compensate, leading to low back pain. Treatment of the low back (where the symptoms present) will be frustratingly unsuccessful. It is common to have hip pain where no visible pathology is discovered, precise soft tissue approaches can be amazingly effective. The focus of this seminar is on accurate assessment strategies and effective treatment techniques to help you treat the right structure for the right reason. We dont just teach you how, we teach you why!

Saturday's Workshop Offerings:

Neuromuscular Therapy: Low Back (8 CEUs) presented by Stacey Kilps of NMT Midwest
In the NMT for the Low Back seminar, you will learn how to efficiently evaluate and treat people with various types of back pain involving the lumbar area. In order to accomplish this, you will learn to clearly identify the anatomical landmarks necessary for great palpation, identify and address the correct soft tissue structures that affect the stated pain pattern, and review how these soft tissue restrictions are tied to movement and everyday complaints

OR

Cupping for the Massage Therapist (Part 2) (6 CEUs) presented by Courtney Peterson
This class is almost entirely hands on.  Before lunch we will focus on anterior bodywork and after lunch we will focus on posterior bodywork.  During the anterior section we will spend time doing facial cupping with the glass facial cups, and also learn techniques for abdominal.  During the posterior section we will explore additional techniques for major muscle groups including the rotator cuff and IT band.

Sunday's Ethics Offering:

Ethics (3 CEUs) presented by Courtney Peterson
In this class we will cover all 13 ethical standards set by the Idaho Board of Massage Therapy.  We will also discuss the anatomy of trust as it applies to the therapeutic relationship and ways that we as massage therapists can improve our relationships with our clients as well as other professionals.
