IN/MOTION_UNIVERSITY DANCERS 34th ANNUAL CONCERT
Directed by Anne Van Gelder
Costume Design by Johann Stegmeir
Light Design by Maja E. White

University Dancers celebrates thirty-four years of engaging dance with our annual concert, IN/MOTION, that brings the work of innovative and talented choreographers Robert Dekkers, Norbert De La Cruz III, and Francesca Harper to the University of Richmond. Francesca Harper returns to Richmond to create her second premiere for University Dancers. Hercritically acclaimed work spans genres from theatre to concert dance (William Forsythes acclaimed Frankfurt Ballet) to Broadway, cabaret, theatre, and film. Norbert De La Cruz IIIs award-winning choreography receives positive reviews. He is praised for his combination of athleticism and aesthetically dynamic shapes and forms and we are excited to bring him back to Richmond for his third commission. Making his choreographic debut in Richmond, San Francisco based artist and educator Robert Dekkers work has been hailed as cerebral and cutting edge. Robert Dekkers is founder and Artistic Director of Post: Ballet whose collaborative approach seeks to break down barriers and cultivate deeper connections.

The concert also features premiere works choreographed by UR assistant professor of dance, Alicia Díaz; Richmond favorite, Starrene Foster Founder/Artistic Director of Starr Foster Dance; Eric Rivera, assistant professor of dance in VCUs Department of Dance & Choreography and former dancer with Ballet Hispanico; and Anne Van Gelder, department faculty and University Dancers Artistic Director.  Adjudicated student choreography and live music will be featured, and department faculty Johann Stegmeir and Maja E. White will design costumes and lights respectively. Dont miss these talented dancers in a variety of works from the contemporary genre in a dance concert perfect for the entire family.

Free, ticket required.
