A Preview of some highlights of The Beast & Dragon Clash, an opera by Pete Muldoon
Anacostia Art Center
Washington, DC

The full opera is postponed; instead, we will present a free preview of some of operas.  So we have refunded all ticket sales and would like to reserve you free seats for the 8:30pm 30 minute preview.

Like the time in 1876 when King Ludwig insisted against the plans and wishes of Wagner to show a special preview of Das Rheingold and Die Walküre before the full production of the Ring was ready, I too must change plans for the betterment of the opera.

The making of this opera has been the greatest artistic and educational experience of my life.

I have an amazing team of musicians, vocalists, dancers, and other leaders in the artistic community and Im so blessed to have great people around me who have been dedicating blood sweat and tears to make this a success.

But this Saturday were changing gears. Instead of putting on the complete opera, were going to present a short feature of some of the operas completed highlights. Were proud of the work weve done, proud of the featured highlights coming to the stage this Saturday, and hopeful that youll join us both this Saturday and at a later date when the full production premiers. Thanks to everyone for supporting us as we continue on our journey.

Thanks again for all of your support and the support of the DC commission on the arts and humanities.

The Beast and Dragon Clash is a psychedelic opera, a mythology of coming times, and a hard look at the place that governments and the corporations they serve have take us.. Come with us as our young hero, Alicia, embarks on a shamanic journey which has her navigating between the Beast--representing the system which seeks to exert absolute control over us--and the Dragon--a magical force, always destroying and creating.

The Best and Dragon Clash (B&DC) incorporates jazz, soul, classical, rock, heavy metal and other genres, and features dance, art, and a video installation. Three years in the making, the B&DC represents--and is represented by--some of the greatest artists in Washington DC:

The opera features the recorded voices of Raheem Devaughn, Christie Dashiell, and Solomon Howard,

The live  performances--the Grand Opening is August 11th at the Anacostia Arts Center--features famed DC singers Imani-Grace Cooper, Sitali Siyolwe, Courtney Dowe, Yaya Balbed, and Theresa Watson, as well as musical performances by  Noble Jolley,  Eliot Seppa, Joe Herrera, Elijah Easton, and Pete Muldoon, with music direction and performance by Dante Pope.

Choreography is by Gwendolyn Goodwin; we are blessed to have dancers Shannon White and Christine Rebecca Jenkins performing live.

Stagecraft, stage design, and puppetry by the dynamic Puerto Rican duo of Garwin Zamora Josarie Molina.

Allyn Johnson acted as studio engineer and all around musical genius during the recording of the LP, with contributions by Wes Felton and Awthentic.

Artwork and animation by the wizardry of Iain Welland.  With a comic book of this opera in the works.  Stay tuned.

Please join us in a dystopian future set a week before the collapse of modern civilization due to complete exhaustion and destruction of vital resources. Sound familiar? And yet, beneath the drones of despair from the doomed consumers, a consonance of dissidents emerges. Curiosity and the love of life, despite the loss of hope, leads Alicia to the Dragon, and through his eyes she carves out a new reality.
