About Ari Honarvar:

As a young girl growing up in Shiraz, Iran, Ari took Persian calligraphy lessons. Years later, impassioned by Persian poetry, she began incorporating calligraphy of those poems in paintings. Her latest project, Rumis Gift Oracle Deck, featuring collaborations with Carmen Costello, includes 33 calligrams and is available now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other retailers. The deck also includes an accompanying commentary booklet with Aris original translations and meditations.

In her performances, Ari collaborates with musicians and dancers of different cultures and presents a dynamic program including poems in Farsi and English, Rumi stories, and Aris own encounters with the soul-saving power of poetry growing up during the Iran-Iraq War. She has recently joined Musical Ambassadors of Peace to help build poetry and musical bridges across war-torn borders. She facilitates a refugee womens drum circle in El Cajon, CA, the home to the largest population of Iraqi and Syrian refugees in the U.S..

Ari presents her work at universities, peace events, and veterans groups. Her writing has been featured on Teen Vogue, The Guardian, Broadly Vice, Elephant Journal and elsewhere.
