Liriope at Jasper Ridge, Stanford
Liriope is a retelling of the Narcissus myth with movement and music at Stanford's Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. In an era where water conditions are extreme, a silencing disease released by melting arctic ice spreads from species to species. Water is at once parent, friend, lover, and murderer. The nymph Liriope faces a choice between her work as a healer and looking after her son, a talented but self-obsessed teenager. This work-in-progress staging is the culmination of Bonnie Wai-Lee Kwong's work as artist in residence at Stanford. Chris Chafe will lead the music improvisation. Performers include Ronja Ver, Katarina Eriksson.
Note: Check in at 5:15 pm. Bus leaves promptly at 5:30 pm.
