Ryan McCullough & Lucy Fitzgibbon
Noted for her dazzling, virtuoso singing (Boston Globe), and musically stunning and dramatically chilling performances (Twin Cities Daily Planet), Lucy Fitz Gibbon is a dynamic musician whose repertoire spans the baroque to the present. The Berkshire Review for the Arts praised Lucys agile and beautifully focused soprano of exceedingly wide range, uniform timbre, and great flexibility a remarkable performer who stood out among many other remarkable musicians. Lucy believes that creating new works and recreating those lost in centuries past is integral to the continuation of classical music today. As such, Lucy has performed the U.S. premieres of works by Francesco Sacrati, Barbara Strozzi, and Agostino. She is committed to faithfully communicate the underlying intentions of the composer, traversing centuries, languages, and ultimately the stages footlights.
American pianist Ryan MacEvoy McCullough has stretched his musicianship in every way possible, working with music old and new as soloist, collaborator, recording artist, and at times as programmer, sound diffusionist, and engineer. His multi-faceted interests have developed a repertoire that balances not only the canonical with the unknown, but also aesthetics from the classical sublime to the noise of electronic experimentalism. His work as a performer includes not only careful attention to written text, but also the instruments of performance, from historical keyboards to recreations of electronic tools for canonical electroacoustic works.
Together, Lucy and Ryan will bring all their passions to bear in a concert that promises to be one of the highlights of TBAM 2018.
