FREDERICK DOUGLASS NARRATIVE CONCERT
The Afro-American Chamber Music Society Orchestra & Choir present another spectacular World Premiere performance of "FREDERICK DOUGLASS NARRATIVE" a seminal figure in the Abolitionist Movement during the Antebellum Period. The scene of the Narrative is set on the cool banks of the Chesapeake Bay where Douglass ponders his future as a free man cogitating thoughts of bravery, integrity, perseverance and romance.  

Douglass is portrayed by renowned Bass-Baritone, Dorceal Duckens from the Houston Grand Opera who premiered Treemonisha!

Composer: Celebrated composer and educator, Jeraldine Saunders Herbison hails from Virginia. A composition student of Undine Smith Moore, Herbison composes in the early African American folk idiom of the Antebellum period to best convey the historic events surrounding slavery employing the banjo, with full orchestra, replete with folk songs,spirituals and African American folk dances.

Program: Fosca Overture by Carlos Gomes, Father of Afro-Brazilian Opera;

Honorees:  Bill Campbell, Holman Church Choir Director/Educator; Kenneth Morris, Great Great Great Grandson of Frederick Douglass. Jeraldine Herbison, Composer;
Tickets:  $25 General Admission online at BPT; $30 at door;
Tickets:  VIP $75 for Artist Reception
