Don't Fight Your Feelings
In this workshop, performers will set up their scenes for success through emotional choices and reactions. You'll learn the techniques to get out of your head, quickly building worlds and defining relationships using grounded scenework as a foundation. Line by line, you'll be initiating scenes with heart that also give you inspiration for the rest of your show.
Instructors:
Audrey Schiffhauer
Audrey Schiffhauer is originally from Buffalo, NY and currently lives in Chicago, IL. She is performing at iO Chicago with The Teenagers, around the city with her indie team Boots, and CIC Theater with Enjoy Tucson. She now knows how to correctly spell Tucson.
Rosie Moan
Rosie has been improvising in Chicago since 2011 and has performed at iO, The Annoyance Theater, ComedySportz Chicago, CiC, The Playground, and The Second City. She is a member of the artistic directors board at iO, has coached improv teams in The Playground's incubator program and led workshops for performers of all levels in the city.
Derek Cox
Derek has been improvising since 2007. Starting with four years of short form, Derek fell in love with long form improvisation when he moved to Chicago in 2011 and has been taking classes and performing at iO Chicago since 2012. When not on stage, Derek is a Director of Photography at his company Polymyth Productions where he films commercials, movies, music videos, and more.
Matt Kappmeyer
Matt moved to Chicago from the south suburbs of Chicago to write OK advertising during the day and make people laugh at night. He has trained at the Annoyance, iO, Second City and CIC theater. You can find him improvising with his Harold team the Teenagers at iO and performing sketch with his brother Ryan in MacGuire, which is named after their dead dog. You could have seen him as Jud Fry in Oklahoma! if it was currently 1997.
