2018 Media Freedom Summit 2.0: Critical Media Literacy for Social Justice
Project Censored cordially invites you to The Media Freedom Summit 2.0: Critical Media Literacy for Social Justice, to be held at College of Marin (COM) just north of San Francisco on October 26-27, 2018 features speakers Abby Martin, Nora Barrows-Friedman, Eleanor Goldfield, Sarah Lazare, and Mnar Muhawesh. The Summit will be an opportunity for journalists, students, faculty, activists, and community members to identify and address crucial threats to media freedom, to learn about and share effective strategies for advancing media freedom, and to promote critical media literacy education in service of social justice and positive, meaningful change in local communities and larger society. Facilitators will lead discussion sections whose findings will be published in an essay that expresses the goals for media freedom and approaches for critical media education to foster social justice and equity.

The Summit is cosponsored by ACME: Action Coalition for Media Education and The Weave.

Dates/Times:

Friday, October 26

Registration: 8am to 9am
Workshops: 9am to 9pm

Saturday, October 27:

Breakfast: 8am to 9am
Workshops: 9am to 6pm
