JHBG Scrabble Tournament
This year marks Scrabble's 80th Anniversary. In 1938, Alfred Butts invented the popular game that promotes vocabulary development right here in Jackson Heights, where he lived.
The Jackson Heights Beautification Group is commemorating the occasion with the start of an Annual Scrabble Tournament for both teenagers (ages 10 to 17) and adults. There will be an entry fee of $10 for teenagers and $15 for adults.
The tournament will take place on Saturday, April 14, the day after National Scrabble Day, in the Social Room of the Community United Methodist Church at 1 p.m.
Participants must register to participate by April 6 to jhbgscrabble@gmail.com. There will be cash prizes for winners.
