Dom Flemons: The American Songster in Concert
Dom Flemons digs deep into ragtime, Piedmont blues, spirituals, southern folk music, string band music, jug-band music, fife and drum music, and ballad idioms with showmanship and humor, reinterpreting the music to suit 21st-century audiences.

Co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, an African-American string band, he currently tours throughout the United States and internationally as The American Songster."

A singer and multi-instrumentalist, Dom plays banjo, guitar, harmonica, fife, bones, bass drum, snare drum, and quills. Among his many sources of inspiration have been Phil Ochs, Dave Van Ronk, Mike Seeger, Mississippi John Hurt, Howlin Wolf, Hank Williams, Chuck Berry and Carl Perkins.

Recent performance highlights include a performance at Carnegie Hall for a Tribute to LeadBelly, the opening ceremonies for the National Museum of African American History and Culture, an international tour with acclaimed British Guitar player, Martin Simpson.

Doms newest album c/o Smithsonian Folkways celebrates the stories and songs of the black cowboys. Dom has released two instructional DVDs through Stefan Grossmans Guitar Workshop, and has a new podcast called American Songster Radio in conjunction with WUNC Public Radio.

He was featured on NPRs Fresh Air with Terry Gross and his latest album has received praise from The Boston Globe, Paste Magazine, Living Blues Magazine, and more.

Many have said that Dom Flemons' solo show was the best concert ever attended -- so don't miss this remarkable opportunity to see him up close and personal in Ulrika Leander's beautiful tapestry gallery.
