String Stories with Feriante and Chapman
Two of the Pacific Northwests premiere guitarists are about to embark on a journey through time. Andre Feriante and Troy Chapman have created a world music experience featuring both known and exotic string instruments that trace history through the development of the guitar.
On March 31st, Andre and Troy will bring about 16 instruments from their collections to Comforts of Whidbey Winery in Langley, WA. This is a unique chance to hear this wide variety of truly unique instruments played by two master musicians.
In addition, this concert will feature guest vocals by Shawn Berit. This is Berits first public performance in the Pacific Northwest since moving here from the wind swept plains of South Dakota.
Instruments include a variety of acoustic and electric guitars (including the rare Gittler), and the ukulele, banjo, charango, harp guitar, oud, tar, rabab, and lute. Music will include classics from the American songbook, standards, original Latin based themes, middle eastern flavors, Gypsy Jazz, classical and baroque themes, South American and African fusions, and even songs of the Beatles.
String Stories is the prelude to a concert series titled CYTHARA: The History of the World According to the Guitar.
The concert begins at 7pm. It is approximately 2 hours in length, end time may vary.

Most of the instruments were made by luthiers in the Pacific Northwest and along the west coast.
The Tenor Guitar, Rabab, and Tar were provided by Music for the Eyes in Langley, WA.
