Telling Your Story to Make a Difference: Fundamentals
TURN EXPERIENCE AND PASSION INTO POWERFUL ADVOCACY. Participants learn how to find, focus, frame, craft and tell personal stories to become better advocates for the difference they want to make in their communities and in the world.
A 10-hour (over two days), highly interactive and personalized workshop teaching the basics of the Living Proof® approach to personal storytelling for advocacy, delivered through discussion, exercises, tips and tools, in-class development and immediate feedback and encouragement in an inviting, safe and professional environment. Conducted by John Capecci, co-author of Living Proof: Telling Your Story to Make a Difference.
Friday, 2:00pm - 6:00pm AND Saturday, 10:00am - 4:00pm

Staff, board members, volunteers, spokespersons and champions of large and small nonprofits, foundations and other mission-driven organizations who want to use the power of personal stories to inspire action for their cause, mission or campaign. Appropriate for individuals with any level of public speaking, personal storytelling or advocacy experience.

INSTRUCTOR: John Capecci, Ph.D., is a communication consultant and senior coach at Living Proof Advocacy who helps nonprofits and businesses nationwide define their brands, develop their key messages and mobilize their advocates. Co-author of Living Proof: Telling Your Story to Make a Difference, he has helped hundreds of people from all walks of life use their personal stories and passions to make a difference in the lives of others and in the communities in which they live and work.
LOCATION: Living Proof Advocacy workshops and coaching sessions are held in the conveniently located 1902 Telephone Building in the historic Marcy-Holmes neighborhood of Minneapolis: 201 6th St. SE, 55414. The space, which features exposed brick and hardwood floors, is warm and welcoming, with a conference room and separate areas for individual work. ADA-accessible, with free wifi. Next to Brasa Rotisserie. On-street parking, both metered and free, is available (with more availability on the weekends). Note: A fitness studio on the lower level occasionally shares its high-energy music; while we try to schedule our training work around the studio's classes, we sometimes move to the rhythm of the bass beats.
