Art for All March 2018 Workshop: Kalamkari Painting
I am happy to conduct fine art workshops at North Bellevue Community Center in association with India Association of Western Washington (IAWW) Community Program.
In 2018, I plan to bring to you 12 unique hands-on workshops each showcasing an art form from India. We will together explore the history of Indian art, it's rich storytelling, and how factors like topography, culture, tradition, religion and the dynasties which once ruled these lands have influenced it.
In each class you will create a "master piece" to take home from the workshop while learning tips and tricks specific to the art forms and mediums used.
In March, let's explore Kalamkari painting, a traditional art form from the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. We will be exploring the two distinctive styles of Kalamkari namely Srikalahasti and Machalipatnam. In class we will create a painting drawing inspiration from both these styles. _______________________________________________________________
