Alt-BLACK
Beyond the limits of expectation rises an alternative culture remixing the past and revamping our future. Blackness rocks and it howls, it goes to outer space and it clowns, it does sun salutations to Igbo rhythms wearing Vera Wang before scouring the pyramids for evidence of our celestial beginnings, and that's just its Wednesday. Unencumbered, ALT Blackness is beyond genre or classification; it's seeing me where I want to be, mosh pit or the moon, and knowing I belong there.
In partnership with SoHo Rep, The Movement Theatre Company will produce this FEED event. Inspired by genres as varied as horror, westerns, science-fiction, revenge drama and afro-futurism, playwrights, performance artists and musicians will showcase work that challenges the margins of "blackness".
Seats are limited and seating is first come first serve.
