Wine with Dr. Fine: A Benefit Event for Healthcare Revolt
Hey Rhode Island! We are so excited to share that on March 24th, 2018 Healthcare Revolt will be hosting our first ever fundraising event! The event will include live music from the The Horse-Eyed Men, raffles, a silent auction and a short address from Dr. Fine, former director of the Department of Health, addressing the need for change and our plans for the Rhode Island health care system. We hope many of you can attend and be a part of a new, community-focused chapter of health care in Rhode Island.
The Horse-Eyed Men are two brothers - Noah and Dylan Harley - who play original, disgruntled Americana and country. Raised by musical humans in a former candy store outside of Providence R.I., one or both of them have played for years throughout Europe and the U.S. under various monikers: The Cowboy Killers, The Rosewater Ladies, and most recently with the neo-diluvian klezmer outfit Tik Tok Laboratories.
Healthcare Revolt is a Rhode Island organized effort in partnership with the George Wiley Center to build a health care system that is for people, not profit. We are organizing health care workers and RI citizens to fight for better patient care in their hospitals, community health centers and practices. We want to build systems of care in each Rhode Island community that are run by and for community members. This includes a plan to provide public, free primary health care for every single Rhode Islander. Weve already begun in Central Falls where Michael Fine M.D., former director of the Department of Health, has partnered with Blackstone Valley Community Healthcare Inc. to produce the first U.S. population-based primary care establishment that serves an entire neighborhood.
*Non-alcoholic options will be available for folks who prefer not to drink.*
