Share this event:

The Kalevala Dinner Dance is an annual gala featuring a dinner by Chef Mikko Catering, a performance by DC's Nordic Dancers and a silent auction to support FFNCC's grant programs. This year, in addition to performing, the Nordic Dancers will provide optional dance lessons to those who are interested. The silent auction will feature Finnish, Nordic and DC-focused items and the proceeds will support FFNCC's grants to other local Finnish organizations.

Tickets are $60 for FFNCC members and $70 for non-members. Members should have received an access code by email. Email finlandiafoundationncc@gmail.com if you are a member and did not receive the code.

ABOUT PERFORMERS

Nordic Dancers of Washington, DC
We are a Nordic folk dance group that was founded in 1972. The group preserves the traditions of community dance groups (folkdansgille, folkdanslag, tanhuryhmä) that were brought to this country by immigrants from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The group is composed of about twenty people, including many who were either born in one of these countries or are of Nordic descent and others who were drawn to the distinctive music and dances. The group's repertoire consists of traditional village dances, both for couples and groups, and set dances choreographed from traditional forms and figures.

Ed Hendala

Ed Hendela is a versatile musician who is as comfortable playing standards from the 1930s thru 1990s as he is backing up singers and country western or rock n roll musicians.  In addition, Ed has an extensive ethnic music background, and plays engagements where he features Latin-American, German, Italian, Polish, Swedish, Finnish, Irish, and other International favorites.  Ed has appeared throughout the New York Metro area, up and down the East Coast of the US from Florida to New England, and in Canada (Toronto and Edmonton). Ed has performed solo concerts for the Scandinavian community in Long Island and Lantana, FL. He performs frequently as either a strolling solo musician or as a one-man orchestra, which includes an Iorio MIDI accordion to replicate the full sound of a 4 piece band.
