Event
1776
A group of local actors is presenting this play. You'll meet John Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and a host of other founding fathers. The play won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1969 and is an entertaining musical history lesson with great relevance to the world we live in today.
The play asks us to grapple with a series of important questions including what it means to live in a democracy and what that asks of us as citizens. What qualities did our founding fathers have that enabled them to find a way to compromise and meet in the middle despite very different points of view?
With support from two local foundations, we are inviting kids to come free to the production when accompanied by an adult. For every free ticket, you must buy one full-priced adult or senior ticket. The play is suggested for middle school and high school-aged kids. YOU MUST RESERVE TICKETS FOR KIDS.
Produced and Directed by Perry Allison Musical Direction by Matt McGrath Choreography by Michelle Carlson
There will be open seating so seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. There will be an educational display in the lobby with some information on the characters in the play and their time in history. Come and mingle before the show.
