Wu Man and the Huayin Shadow Puppet Band
World-renowned pipa (lute) player Wu Man joins the Huayin Shadow Puppet Band (formerly called the Zhang Family Band) for an evening of traditional music with shadow puppetry. With shouts, the strumming of lutes and fiddles, the beating of clappers and gongs, and the battering of a wooden bench, the band sings about rural life in northwestern China, drawing the audience into places and sounds rarely encountered in the West.
