El Lobo y La Paloma (The Wolf and The Dove) - A Contemporary Flamenco Performance
PLEASE NOTE: WHEN ONLINE TICKET SALES CLOSE AT 3:30 APRIL14TH, TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE THEATER FOR PURCHASE.
Created by flamenco dancer Lindsey Bourassa, El Lobo y La Paloma is a multimedia, contemporary flamenco performance that explores the theme of loss and connection. Through all original flamenco dance, Arabic music and song, poetry, and projected imagery, El Lobo y La Paloma tells the story about the loss of a loved one and the mystical connections between physical and spiritual worlds. This work honors the universal experience of loss - that of losing a loved one, a homeland, a freedom, a right, an identity, an ability - and the reconstruction of our relationship with our lost being or object through the process of grief and healing.
This project is in artistic collaboration with artists from Canada, Iran, Kuwait, Iraq and Maine, combining the artistic traditions of these cultures and artists together with the traditions of flamenco.
Artists: Lindsey Bourassa (Maine, Creator and Flamenco Dancer) Megan Keogh (Maine, Flamenco Dancer and Palmas) Talal Alzefiri (Kuwait, Singer) Thomas Kovacevic (Maine, Oud Player and Narration) Khosro Berahmandi (Canada-Iran, Painter) Kifah Abdulla (Iraq, Poetic Translator) Ali Mann (Maine, Videographer) Molly Angie (Maine, Clothing Designer)
