ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Brian McGuigan is the Program Director at Artist Trust overseeing the funding and artist support programs for artists of all disciplines across Washington State. Before coming to Artist Trust, Brian worked at Hugo House for a decade where he co-founded and curated the popular reading series, Cheap Wine & Poetry and Cheap Beer & Prose. He's also moonlighted as the director of Lit Crawl Seattle, an ambassador at On the Boards, and an event organizer for a slew of arts organizations in Seattle. For his work in the arts, The Stranger shortlisted Brian for their Genius Award in Literature in 2010, and in 2011, City Arts named him one of Seattles Power 50 Culture Makers. When he's not working for artists, Brian's a writer himself. His essays have appeared in Gawker, Salon, The Stranger, The Rumpus, and elsewhere, and he has received support from 4Culture, Artist Trust, and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. He's currently at work on a memoir.
