Caitlin Canty is an American singer/songwriter whose music carves a line through folk, blues, and country ballads. Her voice was called casually devastating by the San Francisco Chronicle and NPR Music describes her songs as having a haunting urgency.
Motel Bouquet, Cantys third record, features ten original songs that hold her darkly radiant voice firmly in the spotlight. Produced by Grammy-nominated Noam Pikelny (Punch Brothers) and recorded live over three days in Nashville, the album boasts a band of some of finest musicians in roots music, including fiddler Stuart Duncan and vocalist Aoife ODonovan. Rolling Stone hails Motel Bouquet as dreamy and daring with poetic lyrics and haunting melodies.
Since the release of her critically-acclaimed Reckless Skyline in 2015, Canty has put thousands of miles on her songs, circling through the U.S. and Europe. She warmed up stages for The Milk Carton Kids and Gregory Alan Isakov and recorded with longtime collaborators Darlingside and with Down Like Silver, her duo with Peter Bradley Adams. She won the Troubadour songwriting competition at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and her song, Get Up, was nominated for Song of the Year in the Folk Alliance International Music Awards. Cantys original recordings have recently appeared on CBSs Code Black and on the Netflix original series House of Cards.
Raised in small-town Vermont, the daughter of a school teacher and a house painter, Canty earned her degree in biology in the Berkshires and subsequently moved to New York City. She spent her days in the city working as an environmental sustainability consultant and her nights making music at Lower East Side music halls and bars. In 2009, she quit her job and set out to make music full time. In 2015, she packed up her house plants and her 1939 Recording King guitar and drove to Nashville, TN, which she now calls home.

Jeffrey Martin (Opener)
As a babe Jeffrey Martin sought out solitude as often as he could find it. One night in middle school he stayed up under the covers with a flashlight and a DiscMan, listening to Reba McEntire's That's the Night the the Lights Went Out in Georgia on repeat until the DiscMan ran out of batteries. After that night he was a songwriter, although he didn't actually write a song until years later. After high school he spent a few years distracting himself from having to gather up the courage to do what he knew he had to do.
Eventually he found his way to a writing degree, and then a teaching degree. He wrote most days like his life depended on it, all sorts of things, not just songs, but songs too. He fell in love with teaching high school English, which was fantastic because he never thought he'd actually come to truly love it. His students were fierce and unstoppable forces of noise and curiosity, and for all that they took from him in sleep and sense, they gave him a hundred times back in sparks and humility.
Alas, music, the tour life, was a constant raccoon at the back door. Scratching. Jeffrey spent nights on end sitting up in bed, and then sitting on the front porch, staring off into the night, wondering if he could bare to leave teaching to go on tour full time. Eventually his brain caught up with what his guts had known for months, and with tears in his eyes he announced to his students that he wouldn't be back the following year, and that he didn't feel right hollering at them to chase them dreams at all cost if he wasn't going to do the same.
Jeffrey Martin tours full time now. He is always making music, and always coming through your town. He misses teaching like you might miss a good old friend who you know you'll meet again.
Jeffrey has put out bunches of music since 2009, but he's most proud of the more recent stuff. He's fortunate to be a part of the great and loving family that is Fluff and Gravy Records in Portland, OR. "One Go Around" is his newest release, due out Oct 13th. it is his 3rd full length album.
