ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Making it in the art world is often about connections. But if you don't know many people, where do you begin? In this workshop led by creative strategist Robin Held, you'll take the first steps towards cultivating professional relationships with gatekeepers, stakeholders, influencers, funders, supporters and collaborators. Whether you're new to town, still finding your way, or more focused on making work than making connections, you'll leave this workshop knowing how to effectively make contact with people you have identified as important to your success.

*This workshop is open to artists of all disciplines.

Need-based, Filipinx, and Latinx scholarships are available by request. Email Zach Frimmel for any questions regarding scholarships or other accessibility.

The workshop includes:
- Presentation by Robin Held, with Q & A (1 hour);
- Break (10 min);
- Two break-out sessions with team exercises to build both your skills and peer network (20 mins each);
- Break (10 min);
- Group session to review and share exercise results, plus wrap-up and evaluations (1 hour)

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
ROBIN HELD is a creative strategist and cultural entrepreneur. Direct work with artists to realize their most ambitious projects is a through line of her career, in roles as varied as curator of more than 100 museum exhibitions and performances, producing partner, advisor to funders, grant writer, and executive. Currently, as Principal, Robin Held Consulting, she advises a client base of artists, organizations, and institutions, across sectors of art, science and new technology. From this vantage she provides creators with new resources, planning expertise, and capital investment. Her past positions include Director, Neddy Artist Awards, Cornish College of the Arts; Executive Director, Reel Grrls; Deputy Director, Exhibitions and Collections, Frye Art Museum; Associate Curator, Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington.

REFUND POLICY

Artist Trust reserves the right to cancel any program. If cancelled, a full refund will be applied. If a participant needs to cancel for a paid program, the following policy will apply:

- A full refund can be issued through Brown Paper Tickets if notified 5 days prior to the program date.

- Artist Trust cannot provide refunds for missed classes. Please contact the coordinator if you have any questions regarding specific content of the workshop.

These refund policies are in place because workshops have limited space and this is intended to ensure we are able to offer the space to another attendee if notice is provided far enough in advance.
