2018 Kansas City Japanese Film Festival
The 8th annual Kansas City Japanese Film Festival is back at Alamo Drafthouse Kansas City! All money made from this festival goes to the Taylor Anderson Foundation, a charity to help schools that were affected by the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

Tickets start as low as $5.50 per movie or $15 day-pass for students/kids. $7.50 for adults or $20.00 for day pass! (Plus a small service fee for ticket processing)

Tickets can be purchased online, or at the door!

11:30am - 1:15pm Mary and the Witch's Flower

Mary and the Witch's Flower (Japanese:  Hepburn: Meari to Majo no Hana) is a 2017 Japanese anime fantasy film directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and produced by Studio Ponoc, based on The Little Broomstick by Mary Stewart. The film tells a story of a young girl named Mary who finds a mysterious flower that can give her the power to become a witch, which lasts for one night only.

1:45pm - 3:45pm Your Name

Your Name (Japanese:  Hepburn: Kimi no Na wa.) is a 2016 Japanese animated drama film written and directed by Makoto Shinkai and produced by CoMix Wave Films. Your Name tells the story of a high school girl in rural Japan and a high school boy in Tokyo who swap bodies.

4:15pm - 6:15pm Napping Princess

Napping Princess: The Story of the Unknown Me (  Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari), also localized as Ancien and the Magic Tablet, is a 2017 Japanese animated fantasy adventure film. A young girl dreams of a world called Heartland, a place where she has magic powers. When her events in Heartland begin to parallel her waking world, she realizes that she will have to outmaneuver the bad guys in both worlds.

6:45pm - 8:45pm Shin-Godzilla

Shin Godzilla[5] ( Shin Gojira, also known as Godzilla: Resurgence) s a 2016 Japanese kaiju film featuring Godzilla, produced by Toho and Cine Bazar and distributed by Toho. When the Japan Coast Guard investigates an abandoned yacht in Tokyo Bay, their boat is destroyed and the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line is flooded. After seeing a viral video of the incident, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Rando Yaguchi theorizes that it was caused by a living creature. His theory is confirmed when news reports show a massive tail emerging from the ocean
