Saturday, January 27, 2018 Haaga Hall 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Program 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. Cocktails, dim sum, and chef meet-and-greet in Garden Court
Dim sum is a one-of-a-kind brunch experience originating from the Canton province of China that is now enjoyed by enthusiasts around the world. It may seem intimidating at first, involving fast-paced carts filled with mysterious food parcels and no written menu; however, the experience is well worth braving the unknown.
Family and friends gather to share baskets of food small plates-style, while socializing and drinking hot tea. Steamed dumplings, fluffy buns filled with barbecued pork, fried turnip cakes, savory congee, sweet sesame rice balls, stuffed sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, and delicate coconut sponge cakes are just a small sampling of the foods carted up and down dining halls by dim sums mobile hawkers.
Join chefs Susan Feniger and Kajsa Alger of Blue Window for an introduction to dim sum. Guests will learn more about the history of tea and yum cha, watch chefs Susan and Kajsa create several dim sum plates, taste an assortment of traditional dim sum dishes and teas, and even try their hand at dumpling folding.
By the end of the event, guests will gain a new understanding of a quintessential part of Chinese food culture. Invite family and friends to join in on this learning experience for an afternoon of fun, adventure, and delicious food!
