Celebrate the music of Christmas in diverse and powerful ways in one amazing concert! The Community Renewal Chorus, along with the choirs of St. Alphonsus, presents "From London to Chicago: A Christmas Concert" on Sunday, December 17, 2017 (7:30pm, St. Alphonsus Church, Corner of Southport & Wellington in Lakeview).
Hear Benjamin Britten's beloved Ceremony of Carols accompanied by harp, and Gerald Finzi's In Terra Pax, accompanied by strings, harp, and percussion. The Finzi work has been described by John Bawden, music director of the Guildford Cathedral Singers, as "a miniature masterpiece that unites the familiar events of the Christmas story into a compelling musical narrative that is at once personal and universal."
Of course, you will also delight in carol arrangements old and new, from Gospel spirituals to Gary Fry's Christmas in Chicago.
