Every Breath You Take - "Ascension" Performance
This performance includes artists Sheree Rose & Martin O'Brien.
The Ascension, combines practices of Hinduism with Sheree Rose's Jewish heritage along with her take on Christianity.
The performance is announced by the blowing of the shofar, the Jewish start of the new year celebration. The main component of this performance is the Puja, the Hindu form of worshiping the gods and goddesses. Sheree Rose identifies with Kali, the mother who destroys evil by cutting off heads. Martin O'Brien personifies Shiva, the creative force. The performance finishes with Martin ascending to a higher realm.
These concepts are referenced as a way to honor Bob Flanagan's, Martin O'Brien's and Sheree Rose's own hybrid belief system.
