The Brazilian Cultural Center of Chicago is proud to celebrate Dia Nacional do Samba (National Samba Day), with the special musical ensemble presenting the show Tempero Carioca.
Singer, performer/choreographer Dill Costa & Band, along with special guest singer/guitarist João Poupard will take you on a musical journey back to 20th century Rio de Janeiro, the city known today as the capital of Samba. The show will feature compositions by legendary sambistas (Noel Rosa, Dorival Caymmi, Cartola), as well as contemporary artists such as Diogo Nogueira, Beth Carvalho and Casuarina. Along for the journey will be accompanying musicians John Beard playing 7-String Guitar, David Chelimsky on Cavaquinho, and Reed Flygt on Percussion. We invite the community for this live performance to commemorate Samba the musical genre and dance style that became symbolic of Brazilian culture.
