Foundry Hall presents: A Songwriters Trio
Allison Downey, Edward Dupas and Andy Baker share the stage for this evening of swapping stories and songs.
Allison Downey is a Storyteller, Singer-Songwriter, Writer and Educator living in Kalamazoo. Allison hosts, co-produces, and is the featured storyteller and musician for The Living Room radio series on Michigan Radio (the leading NPR affiliate in Michigan) that explores the cultural fabric of Michigan through storytelling, music, and creative writing. She believes in the power of story, song and the arts to build community, and teach us about ourselves.
Americana singer-songwriter Ed Dupas lived-in melodies unwind with reflective lyrics and speak to the current state of the human condition, soothing where possible, agitating where necessary, and seeking change where appropriate. Ed's musical goal is deeper inquiry and exploration for himself and his listeners.
Andy Baker is a singer songwriter from Gobles, MI and a Foundry Hall volunteer and board member. His songs steer well off the beaten path with stories ranging from a toy jalopy to his son who has autism to the spiritual side of triathlon. He keeps everything sounding fresh by playing a multitude of instruments during his live performances including, guitar, dobro, bouzouki and even bass. Songs from his new album "One Fine Day" earned him a prestigious Kerrville New Folk Finalist award.
