About this production:
With music by Elton John and Tim Rice, the songwriting team responsible for the Lion King, Aida is the captivating and timeless story of star-crossed love set along the banks of the Nile.
A captive in Egypt, the Nubian princess Aida must hide her royal identity as she serves the rising Egyptian queen, Amneris. Sparks fly in the palace as Aida catches the eye of Amneris' fiance Radames, captain of the Egyptian army. But just as she begins to return Radames' affections, Aida remembers the suffering of her people and realizes that she alone has the power to lead the Nubians out of their oppression in Egypt... if only she can find the strength to sacrifice her heart's desire.
Thomas Dale High School and Specialty Center for the Arts brings this powerful story to Chester in our biggest musical endeavor yet! From Egyptian costumes, sets, and props designed and built by visual arts and theatre production students, to show-stopping musical numbers such as "My Strongest Suit", "Dance of the Robe", "The Gods Love Nubia", and "Written in the Stars", performed by Dale's finest student actors, dancers, and vocal and instrumental musicians, this production showcases the talents and hard work of over 120 students and faculty from every arts discipline at TDHS and the Specialty Center for the Arts.
