The Montclair Arts Alliance is hosting a 4 day festival of Visual and Performing Arts in Montclair's historic United Way Theater.

Buy a single day $20 Festival ticket and attend any and all events on that day. Multi-day Festival tickets allow entry on 2, 3 or 4 days at a discount.

Schedule of Events

Visual Arts and Jazz:
From 6-8pm on Wednesday 11/29, the festival begins with the opening of the art exhibit "Improvisations" curated by Joyce Korotkin featuring 20 visual artists, a wine and cheese reception and music by harpist Violetta Norrie.
At 8pm, a jazz performance will follow featuring Jazz House Kids Organ Ambassadors Ensemble, Trio Mia Jazz and Scott Robinson from Seed Artists.

Theatre:
From 6-10pm on Thursday 11/30, 5 theater companies will present sit-down and staged readings as well as musical theater performances. Companies include:
6:15pm Culture Connection Theater-two short plays by local playwright Gwen Orel
6:50pm Sugar Mama Productions-monologues from "Boys Next Door" and "Antony and Cleopatra"
7pm UCC Players-scenes from "Motherhood Outloud"
7:30pm Vanguard Theater Company-songs from "Into The Woods, Memphis The Musical" & more
8pm Theatre 167 presenting a reading of the full length play "Pirira" by J.Stephen Brantley

R&B Music:
From 6-10pm on Friday 12/1, 4 bands will play rock, folk and R&B music including: QWERT, Meg Beattie Patrick & Michael Williams, the Fabulous Flemtones and Black Lace Blues.

Programming For Young Audiences:
From 11am - 6:30pm on Saturday 12/2 during the daytime, programming for young audiences will include Theater, Dance, Music, Opera, Drama and Drumming. Multiple Interactive arts events will be happening in the lobby. Companies and performers include:
11am Pushcart Players-"The Velveteen Rabit"
12:30pm Montclair Early Music-"St. George & the Dragon"
1pm Jr. Theatre Rocks-songs from "Billy Elliot, Wicked" & more
2pm dance groups including - Montclair Dance Collective and Premiere Dance Theatre Workshop Kids
3pm MADLOM performing with 15 congo drums
4pm Opera Theatre of Montclair-"The Magic Flute"(family friendly version)
5:30pm A Mid-Summer's Dreaming Theatre Co.-scenes from Shakespeare and poetry by t.s. eliot

11am-6pm Interactive Arts
snap a pix with Indie Arts Montclair
create a book about yourself with The Creativity Caravan  
learn theatrical make-up with The Summer Theatre Camp of Montclair

From 6-8pm, Jennifer Levine will paint interactive Soul Portraits

Dance:
From 8-9:30pm on Saturday 12/2 during the Evening, 6 dance companies will present an evening of Modern and African Dance. The companies include: Padierna Dance Project, Umoja Dance Company, Premiere Dance Ensemble, Danceworks & Co., Kyle Marshall Choreography and Freespace Dance.
