Khalif Neville at TreeCat Cafe
Khalif Neville's musical heritage runs deep; born into the first family of New Orleans music, the Nevilles have long been recognized as ambassadors for the citys distinctive style of funk, soul and R&B. Khalif spent the first few years of his life steeping in the Crescent City's cultural gumbo, then moved to Western Massachusetts where he began voraciously studying music with his father, Charles Neville. Now in his early twenties, Khalif has earned his stripes as an accomplished pianist, composer, lyricist, and torch bearer of the New Orleans tradition.
The TreeCat Café is a monthly cafe and performance venue run by youth of the Treehouse Community and the HEROES program, which support youth who have experienced foster care. The TreeCat Café provides high school and college-aged youth of Treehouse and HEROES with work experience and training in business skills. Youth take on and manage every aspect of the Café: marketing, accounting, fundraising, cooking, and hosting. Local business owners and elders of the Treehouse Community offer their expertise and mentor youth in entrepreneurial skills.
Admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door for general public, $10 for students, and $5 for Treehouse community members. Funds will help to support the TreeCat Café and other youth programs at Treehouse. Food will be served. Reservation is required. Table seating is limited.
