DOUNDOUNBA
The Odunde Festival presents DOUNDOUNBA! Annual Fundraiser ~ In celebration of our 33rd year of The Odunde Festival in Seattle, Washington, We invite you to join us in this years' Celebration on Saturday, November 11th at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. The doors will open at 6:30pm to enjoy the Harvesting of the African Market Place, Tasty African cuisine and community networking. Dinner will be served at 7:00pm until 8:30pm. Entertainment will begin 8:00pm-10:30pm.
What is Doundounba? The Doundounba dance is a fun, energetic and social dance of solos performed by drummers and dancers that are based around the Dunun or Doundoun rhythms from Guinea West Africa. Dounounba refers to strong mans dance as it was originaly called and used as.
Kouyate Arts Directors, Boka Kouyate and Afua Kouyate; both have navigated an amazingly talented artistic lineup. Some of Seattle's Finest Artist will perform during the 2017 Doundounba of the year. Musical Artists includes: Manimou Camara, Mamady Mansare, Boka Kouyate, Karim Koumbassa, Sekou Fofana, Naby Camara and more! Dancing Artists includes: Sarah Lee Mansare, Nailah Harris, Chisula Chambers and Afua Kouyate.
Families are encouraged to attend. There will be youth performers as well! The African Marketplace will display thousand of african artifacts, clothing and authentic arts and crafts for your early Holiday shopping. Dinner, entertainment and networking is all included. Please join us!
Advanced tickets are $20.00 General / $15.00 for Youth 13 and under. At the door tickets will add $5.00 per person.
