Love at the Crossroads: Climate and Social Justice
Mount Zion Baptist Church
Seattle, WA
Share this event:

We invite you to join us in looking at and delving into the complexities at the crossroads of climate change and the myriad other vital social and economic justice issues about which we all care deeply.  As always, we want to figure out possible solutions.   We do this in partnership (rather than in silos) with the wonderful activists and non-profits who work with dedication on these issues. Our theme this year is Love at the Crossroads: Climate and Social Justice. With both an interfaith panel and an inspiring keynote speaker, we will look at faiths primary call to love and what it means to approach these issues from faith and in a spirit of love.

We are honored that Deborah Parker, former Vice Chair of the Tulalip Tribe will be our keynote speaker. She also is on the board of Our Revolution (post Bernie Sanders campaign).  She served as a policy analyst in the Office of Governmental Affairs for the Tulalip Tribe from 2005-2012.  She also spoke at a huge Native women led NO DAPL demonstration in Washington, DC and is passionate about climate issues.

Here are examples of the 21 workshop topics and their intersection with climate that will be addressed: Agriculture, Trees, Immigration, Transportation, Health Care, Racial Justice, Built Environment, Affordable Housing, Power Generation, Species Preservation, War, Economic Justice, Civil Liberties, 28th Amendment, Labor, Native American Rights, Reproductive Health, Mental Health Issues, Ocean Acidification, Puget Sound, and How to talk to friends about all of these issues!  (You only get to pick three workshops, yikes!)  Put in a separate window of your browser the words:  http://www.eatingforahealthyplanet.org/conference-program_2017.pdf   for a longer description
(It is best to look at these and make a note of your choices before you start registration because otherwise the registration window may time out on you.)

After you register you should receive a confirmation email.  If you do not receive one your registration has not completed.  Please make sure you hit the final button in the process to complete registration.  Online registration closed at noon on Friday.  If you have not registered by then you can register in person but will need to bring your own lunch at that point.

Thanks!
