Tanya Gabrielian Benefit Concert for NAMI of Southern Oregon
Grizzly Peak Winery host Tanya Gabrielan for a classical piano performance Sunday November 5th at 3:00 PM . Tanya Gabrielian (www.tanyagabrielian.com) has performed classical piano in Southern Oregon for the past two years, first with the Rogue Valley Symphony, and then with Jackson County Community Concerts. Her familiarity with the arts scene in our area, inspired her to bring her talent and experience to our area for special project. As an artistic statement to combat stigma, pianist Tanya Gabrielian is leading collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, MSR Classics, and Unison Media. Not only does the project collectively bringing attention to mental health issues in the programming, new audiences that arent familiar with classical music are welcomed to the presentation as well as the reverse, with musical audiences being exposed to issues that they might not be familiar with or feel comfortable discussing. Presenting works of composers who have dealt with mental illness in their own lives, we demonstrate the enormous contributions to society that these composers have given us and find solidarity through the emotional elements presented in their works. The aim is to enable the audience to gain awareness about these issues and to be supportive of those that deal with mental illness in their own lives.
