Born in Los Angeles and raised in Switzerland, Lori Lieberman became a fixture in the 70s Laurel Canyon Troubadour scene. After college in Boston Lieberman signed with Capitol Records, where she recorded five albums with a young Larry Carlton, Tom Scott, Sneaky Pete, and the late pianist Joe Sample. She toured with Randy Newman, Billy Joel, Leonard Cohen, John Sebastian and Rick Nelson, to name a few. Many are not aware that she wrote "Killing Me Softly," inspired by a Don McLean performance at The Troubadour. The song became a massive hit for Roberta Flack in the '70s.
Lori's unguarded, poignant lyrics, beautiful voice and folk guitar and piano have recently been heard on stage on Carnegie Hall, the Grammy Museum, and clubs and concert halls around the world. This will be her first performance at Caffe Lena.
