Simple Offering; A Tribute To The Carpenters
Thursday, November 2nd, will bring the music of the Carpenters to the Nevada Theatre. "Simple Offering" is a production by local musicians and vocalists in support of Hospitality House, a local organization focused on enhancing the lives of homeless members of our community.
Under the musical direction of Craig E Palmer, craigepalmer-composer.com, a group of skilled musicians and vocalists has been assembled to make this a unique and memorable evening. The production will include more than 25 of the most popular songs by the Carpenters as well as multimedia presentations highlighting both the career of the Carpenters and the work of Hospitality House. Refreshments will be provided by participants in the Hospitality House culinary school. Wine will be provided by Sierra Knolls.
During their 14 year career, the Carpenters recorded 11 albums. The results of these albums included 31 singles that garnered 3 Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles, 5 #2 singles, and 15 Adult Contemporary #1 hits.
Peter and Penny Johnson, Jane Sinclair and Caryn Wilder will handle the bulk of the vocals. Band members will include Craig E. Palmer, Keyboards and vocals; Phil Missimore, Guitar; Larry Ortiz, Bass; Paul Kraushaar, Drums and Peter Johnson with additional Keyboards. Woodwinds and horns will include Jane Boettger,Oboe and Clarinet; Mark Potampa, Sax, Harmonica, and Flute; Ralph Remicks, Trumpet and Flugelhorn.
Many other members of the local community are donating their time and skills to the numerous details involved in putting together an enjoyable evening of music to support such a worthy cause.
